Nippon Paint inspires fashion designer Melinda Looi and her aspiring artist daughter, Maya, with their vivid colours

Fashion designer Melinda Looi is known for her exquisitely crafted clothes and exuberant style, and her innate creativity has passed down to her daughter, Maya, who is an aspiring artist.

What started as doodles has grown into a large part of the 13-year-old's pastime, and Looi appreciates and nurtures this gift by providing a safe space for Maya to express her creativity.

To this end, mother and daughter choose a large wall in their home for Maya to paint a mural. Choosing a vibrant shade of Green Gable (NPP BGG 1813A), they painted this as the base of the artwork. Maya then mixed Picket Fences (NP BGG 1712 P) to detail the piece.

Basing the artwork on a sketch Maya had done earlier, Looi helped Maya complete the piece, which is a testament to the teenager's boundless creativity that belies her youth.
