The Tatler Homes Design Awards is a celebration of the abundance of creative minds and incredible talent in the field of architecture and design that the Philippines has to offer. Following its successful launch in the Philippines in 2022, this year’s edition features an illustrious panel with extensive knowledge and experience in these fields of interest. Their valuable input is key in selecting the winners for Best Architectural Concept, Best Sustainable Design, Best Innovative Design, Best Use of Art, Best Use of Colour, Best Living Space, and the Tastemaker Award.

Below, we unveil a group of experts in design—a standout jury who will help select the very best in the industry this 2023.

Nate Berkus, President, Nate Berkus Associates

Since Nate Berkus’ first appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2002, his elevated yet personal approach to design garnered a loyal following from both design enthusiasts and casual fans, making him one of the most influential interior designers in the world today. He has worked with Gwyneth Paltrow, Brian Robbins and Tracy James, to name a few.

His expertise, approachability, and design philosophy—that your home should tell your story—is what made him a beloved household name for more than  20  years.

Bill Bensley, Director, Bensley Design Studios

A champion of both design and sustainability, Bill Bensley is one of the architects committed to respecting Mother Nature. Some of his famous works are Capella Ubud in Bali and Intercontinental Khao Yai Resort in Thailand—both of which boast unique dwellings set in gorgeous natural landscapes with very little footprint.

In 2020, he won Interior Designer of the Year at the Interior Design Confederation in Singapore.

Trickie Colayco-Lopa, Co-founder, Art Fair Philippines

Trickie Colayco-Lopa is one of the founders of Art Fair Philippines. Thanks to her passion for art, she helped change the game for the number of  Filipinos who view and experience art; by gathering galleries in one place every year, she encourages even the ordinary person to immerse themselves in love for it.

Budji Layug, Artist and Designer

Known for his signature Modern Filipino style, Budji Layug has made waves in design through his bamboo chairs sold in Bloomingdale’s, New York in the Seventies.

He has multiple awards both nationally and internationally under his belt, including the very first Haligi ng Dangal Award for Design from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines for his work on the famous Lumot Lakehouse. 

Currently retired, he is now focusing on his artistic career, with painting as his new passion.

Kenneth Cobonpue, Creative Director and CEO, KENNETHCOBONPUE

Kenneth Cobonpue is a multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer from Cebu City. He is known for his skillful blend of modernity and tradition, apparent in how he mines the raw materials of his home province and the integration of local weaving methods with technology.

He was awarded the first Gawad CCP Para sa Sining for design for his merits and contribution to the art and design industry, the highest distinction from the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
