Addy Design brings in a fresh perspective to a Petaling Jaya institution, One World Hotel
Since 2009, One World Hotel has provided exceptional 5-star services tailored to local needs and the area around Bandar Utama.
In 2022, it initiated its first round of refurbishments undertaken by Addy Design. This began with the female and male washrooms on the concourse floor adjacent to the busy all-day dining area and function rooms. Due to heavy traffic and prolonged wear, these heavily utilised facilities needed a drastic renovation and a timely refresh in terms of design.

Wine and dining
Named Cinnamon, the all-day dining outlet at One World Hotel was carved out from a former valet parking area and transformed into a dining destination.
Overcoming challenges such as ceiling height restrictions and integrating essential mechanical elements seamlessly, Addy Design’s focus remained on crafting a luxurious yet functional space. Embracing a local tropical theme, meticulous attention was paid to every detail, ensuring a harmonious blend of aesthetics and practicality.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by a reception area adorned with a dark walnut wood finish, radiating warmth and hospitality. A curved LED panel sets the stage for an immersive dining experience, while a straight corridor maximises space utilisation and flexibility for private reservations.
The incorporation of Malaysian cultural architecture, seen in the “Atap” design, underscores the hotel’s commitment to honouring local heritage.

Form and function
For the past decade, the function room at One World Hotel has been a cornerstone of its offerings, accommodating various events and gatherings with versatility.
Originally occupying the space of the former Cinnamon All Day Dining, the new function room seamlessly integrated with the existing back-of-house kitchen, minimising unnecessary alterations while preserving functionality.

This time, a bolder approach was taken in design, embracing a richer walnut tone to complement the building's architectural theme. Collaboration with engineers ensured the integration of two function rooms with glass roofs, prioritising structural integrity and sound insulation.
Dark walnut wood veneer and forest green accents were introduced to evoke a natural ambience within the urban setting, creating a serene atmosphere for guests.

Chic and sleek
Relocating the male and female washrooms posed a challenge for the designers amidst extensive artificial landscaping, but meticulous planning and engineering triumphed, yielding a state-of-the-art restroom facility.
Aligning with the all-day dining and function room concept ensured coherence. Individual counters enhance privacy, while luxurious marble elevates the ambience. However, the design extends beyond aesthetics, emphasising functionality, comfort, and inclusivity.
Female facilities prioritise privacy, featuring secure stalls and ample space. Sustainability was another priority, with water-saving fixtures and eco-friendly materials applied throughout.
