Celebrating the country’s top names in design over a convivial evening of camaraderie and cocktails
A well-designed space has the power to inspire and bring joy. It goes beyond fulfilling functional requirements and creates an immersive and uplifting experience that enhances our overall well-being.
The Tatler Homes Design Awards (THDA) made its Malaysian debut this year and recognises the innovative spirit and remarkable achievements of local firms.
A regional initiative which is in its seventh edition in Singapore, second in the Philippines and first in Taiwan, the Malaysian edition was sponsored by Sime Darby Property, KLGCC Resort, SKS, Cosentino, Royal Selangor and Lladro.

Held at the Royal Selangor Visitors Centre, the awards night was filled with the best in the industry last May 31.
The evening was a joyous affair where guests mingled over drinks and canapes, awaiting the results of the inaugural awards. The jury panel, comprised Bee Eu Tan of BETA Architects, Kian Liew of The Ascott, Ed Ng of AB Concept, Omar Khan of Omar Khan Rugs, and Lai Siew Hong of Blu Water Studio who worked together to scrupulously distil the entries into top nominees and, finally, the winners in each category.

The evening kicked off with a speech by Tatler Malaysia Managing Director Gerrie Beh, who spoke about how delighted she was that Tatler Homes provided a platform for local design talent.
After the warm welcome, the evening proceeded with a short panel discussion moderated by Jennifer Choo, Tatler Homes Malaysia editor-in-chief. Part of the jury panel comprised of awards judges, namely Khan, Lai and Liew, including Tatler's Asia's Most Influential alum, Pamela Tan of Poh Sin Studio.
The panel had a lively discussion about whether there was a modern Asian design vocabulary and how this influenced their work.

The winners of the seven categories were then announced along with a special award recognising Sime Darby Property for being a Local Champion of Sustainable Development.
All received The Guest by Jaime Hayon from Lladro, which had been customised for the occasion.
