The Canadian Chinese chef and restauranteur will curate experiences for Rosewood guests that will allow them to immerse themselves in local Hong Kong culture
Anyone who has been to Rosewood Hong Kong knows that a visit there is a full-sensory immersion that immediately removes you from your everyday life. Now, famed Canadian Chinese chef, Gen.T honouree and LGBTQ+ advocate May Chow has been announced as the luxury hotel’s newest Rosewood PlaceMaker, who will curate an authentic experience that represents Hong Kong’s local culture for Rosewood guests.
As a Rosewood PlaceMaker, Chow has designed a digital guide that is rooted in her culinary expertise and love for the city. Her guide highlights some of her favourite characteristics and destinations that are unique to Hong Kong, and not easily found in tourist brochures.
The Rosewood Hong Kong website describes PlaceMakers as “the embodiment of Rosewood’s commitment to elevating culture and community,”, and invites guests to “discover our curated experiences and in-depth destination guides, enriching your global exploration”.
Chow is a loud and proud advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, female empowerment, and diversity. Her restaurant Happy Paradise has been named one of Tatler Asia’s Best 20 restaurants in Macau and Hong Kong, and Asia’s 50 Best crowned her Best Female Chef in 2017.
