The founder and CEO of the Malaysian medtech startup BookDoc Dato' Chevy Beh, 37, has passed away.

The eldest son of BP Healthcare Group founder and chairman, Dato' Beh Chun Chuan, Chevy worked as an investment banker in New York before he returned to Malaysia to assist his father in the family business. In 2009, Chevy served as the managing director of BP Healthcare Group, growing the company to become one of Malaysia's largest healthcare corporations. He expanded the company's customer base to over two million and its network of branches from 50 to more than 200 in six years.

In 2014, he co-founded BookDoc, an online and mobile platform that allows users to search and make appointments with healthcare professionals. BookDoc has a presence in five countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Thailand. The company currently serves 20 Asian cities and aims to be Southeast Asia's go-to healthcare app.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, BookDoc played an instrumental role in the rollout of the vaccines by managing and running the vaccine centre at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. This centre administered nearly 1.3 million doses during the 150 days it was operating.

Chevy was also a distinguished polo player. The former captain of the England Under-21 team had played against Prince William and Prince Harry. Chevy was also the youngest person elected to be the vice president of Equine Association Malaysia (EAM).

In 2020, Beh was appointed as a member of the Panel of Experts for the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Malaysia.
