The non-profit organisation launches the national award to recognise the country's top educators
Non-profit organisation Pemimpin Global School Leaders (GSL) has launched the inaugural Malaysia Teacher Prize, which aims to identify and celebrate the best educators in the country. The award is the Malaysian edition of the Varkey Foundation's Global Teacher Prize, launched in partnership with YTL Foundation and supported by the Malaysian Education Ministry.
Pemimpin GSL's chief executive officer and Gen.T honouree Cheryl Ann Fernando says online applications for the prize are open from today until June 30. The organisers are aiming to reach out to 10,000 teachers across Malaysia. The application process is open to all teachers, from both public and private schools.
The grand prize winner will receive RM50,000 and the four finalists will receive RM5,000 each. The top 10 finalists will also have access to professional development training to help them better understand their strengths and impact, and scale their work beyond their schools.
