Since he was making one of his favourite meals for his KL guests, he shared with Tatler some his most memorable meals.

The most memorable meal he ever prepared

"When I cooked for the late Princess Diana in London. We closed our restaurant during lunch hours for her. She drove herself to the restaurant. When I greeted her, she said to me: 'Chef Nobu, I've read about your story. I was so impressed!' She was so happy with my food.

A couple weeks later, I went back to New York. That's when I heard the sad news about her tragic car accident. That's why that meal is the most memorable that I've ever cooked. I can still remember her smiling face and the way she enjoyed the food I made for her."

His most memorable meal

"Before I was married, my wife (who was my fiancee then) cooked a type of egg cake but she mistook salt for sugar. It sounds horrible but I didn't taste anything bad. On contrary, I felt so lucky because she cooked for me with her heart, even if it tasted different from what it was meant to be. This dinner impressed me so much because I could feel her heart. And that's why we're still married!"

What he would have for his last meal

"Sushi, of course!"
