1. The Lobby Lounge, Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore

This time, the hotel's culinary team chose to work with local food advocate Dr Leslie Tay to craft a sumptuous heritage breakfast menu. It’s filled with all your childhood faves, including that bowl of noodles tossed in a black sauce and topped with fried pork and shrimp dumplings and barbecued pork. You also have a choice of soft boiled eggs with kaya toast, and fried carrot cake.

And that's not all. The team has also partnered with Bib Gourmand eatery The Coconut Club to serve its famed nasi lemak, and Springleaf Prata Place for its prata. Available on the a la carte menu and as part of the weekend breakfast menu from 7am to 11am.

2. Niku Kin

We can never have too many choices of premium Japanese beef, which is why this restaurant by chefs Tsubo and Rafael Andres Bueno Mendoza is a welcome addition to the dining scene.

It’s a yakiniku and bar concept that offers Hokkaido wagyu at pocket-friendly prices. They serve a total of 32 cuts ranging from the rib to the brisket and tenderloin—with various levels of marbling. Have the wagyu sushi set, which gives you five beef slices, alongside the signature wagyu katsu hamburg.

3. Long Bar

We know you’ve been splurging on good food lately (it’s the holiday season, after all), so we thought you'd appreciate a trip back to the Long Bar, which has reopened after a major hotel upgrade.

Home to a host of craft cocktails, the must-have is still the iconic Singapore Sling that was first created in 1915, though the century-old recipe has been tweaked to cater to modern palates. First is with the use of Widges gin, exclusively made for the bar, characterised by its botanical notes that complement the nuances of the pineapple juice, lime juice, Curaçao and Bénédictine.

The captivating pink colour comes from the use of cherry liqueur and grenadine, made from 100 per cent pomegranate juice.

4. Smoke & Mirrors

Now that we’re on the subject of cocktails, Smoke & Mirrors has teamed up with The Botanist to hold a Sunday wind down every weekend of the month. The next session is on December 16 and from 2pm to 5pm, you can enjoy free flow of The Botanist gin & tonic, spritzer cocktails, sparkling wines and beers, alongside small bites. With an amazing view to boot, we think it’s the perfect way to savour the weekend.

5. Skirt

Sometimes, all you need is a good laugh to get you through the sluggish week. On December 12, W Singapore will partner with Comedy Central Asia to offer diners live stand up shows by Fakkah Fuzz and Sam See, alongside a superb three-course meal (with optional wine pairing) by the Skirt team.

Expect to start with the zesty raw hamachi taco with corn puree and yuzu dressing and look forward to the main course, a choice between the braised ox cheek drizzled with a red wine sauce and seared salmon paired with with artichoke puree and salad greens.

6. White Rose Café

If you constantly crave authentic Penang street fare, you're are not alone. And you be glad to know that the wait for York Hotel Singapore’s Penang Hawkers’ Fare, the third edition of its thrice-yearly promotion, is over. From From now until January 1, 2019, a buffet of perennial favourites such as Penang Laksa, Char Kway Teow, Oyster Omelette, Roti Canai and Ban Chang Kueh is availalbe for lunch and dinner at the hotel's White Rose Café served a la minute. Well the usual suspects need little explanation, a well-loved quintessential street food worth noting because it's getting harder to find is the dish of cuttlefish with kangkong (water convolvulus) finished with, as one would expect, a drizzle of quality hae-ko.
