Rather than adhering to a restrictive diet, many now prefer “eat clean” meals as a way of protecting their health and maintaining their figure, for both themselves and their families. Among the most popular choices for these meals is salmon from Norway.
In recent years, the eat clean trend has gained momentum. The phrase first appeared in the 1960s, meaning simply: “Eat food in its most original form.”
In essence, it refers to consuming foods that are fresh, unprocessed or minimally processed, free from additives, while keeping their natural flavour and nutrients intact. This approach helps the body eliminate toxins and enhances the absorption of nutrients.
It is a safe, scientific method that ensures the body still receives essential nutrients such as starches, proteins, fats and fibre from wholesome foods—rather than just vegetables or fruit, or restrictive diets as some mistakenly believe. Packaged and heavily processed foods, refined sugar and the like are naturally excluded.

Abundant energy source
Experts suggest that for optimal health, each meal should provide at least 20–30 grams of protein. Salmon offers the perfect source: 100g delivers around 18.4g of protein with only 208 calories. Rich in omega-3, vitamin D, B12 and other vital minerals, it also strengthens immunity and reduces the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Norwegian salmon is further distinguished by sustainable farming practices and rigorous quality checks, ensuring its global reputation.

Norway’s unique natural environment offers the perfect conditions for salmon to thrive. Its deep fjords, where cold, oxygen-rich seawater flows steadily all year, create a setting where salmon can grow strong and healthy. The result is thick, firm flesh of a vibrant orange-red hue, threaded with white fat lines, balancing a rich yet delicate flavour with natural sweetness. Beyond light, clean cooking, Norwegian salmon is especially prized for raw preparations such as sashimi and sushi.
Philosophy of sustainable farming
Norwegian salmon farms are closely regulated for environmental impact and stocking density. Every day, more than a million salmon are monitored in their ocean pens. Each cage maintains a carefully managed ratio of 97.5% water to 2.5% fish, giving salmon ample space and consistent oxygen levels. Advanced sensor systems continuously track temperature, salinity, oxygen and currents, while underwater drones and AI technologies detect the earliest signs of health issues, allowing swift and precise intervention. This meticulous care ensures only the highest-quality salmon reach the table.

Not only does Norway apply advanced technology to aquaculture, it also enforces a strict quality monitoring system as part of its ethical commitment to global consumers, ensuring that every fish brought to market meets the highest standards. According to the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR), environmental indicators such as oxygen, temperature and salinity are measured, while fish behaviour is observed for early detection and timely intervention. The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) also conducts regular testing to confirm that all samples remain safe in line with EU requirements.
