As Hong Kong prepares to honour moms of all stripes this coming Mother's Day, the culinary scene is abuzz with flavours fit for only the most cherished matriarchs. From lavish Cantonese feasts featuring premium ingredients like free-range chicken and dried abalone, to refined French tasting menus highlighting signature creations, these maternally-minded offerings cater to a range of discerning palates. 1. Chinesology

Chef Saito Chau whips up a decadent feast for mom in both lunch and dinner formats. The former highlights a trio of housemade dim sum, followed by dishes like free-range chicken with rose crisp, premium dried abalone with goose web and shrimp paste, giant grouper steamed the traditional way, and sea cucumber with dried shrimp and pork belly, all for HK$1,180 per person. At dinner time, dishes like goose wing, king crab with egg-white custard in young coconut, and fish maw soup with crocodile meat and chuan bei take the fore over a ten-course menu priced at HK$1,488 per person. Available until May 12, the Mother's Day menus require three days advance booking and a minimum of four persons.

2. L‘Envol

Splash out the cash on mom at St Regis Hong Kong's signature French restaurant. The "Les Inspirations de La Semaine" menu covers both lunch and dinner and ranges between three and four courses from HK$688 up, featuring dishes like Hokkaido sea urchin, M9 Wagyu hanger steak, and pistachio soufflé. Vegetarian moms can opt for "Le Menu Printemps" menu, which includes dishes like aralia sprouts and roasted celeriac, culminating in a delightful chocolate dessert; while the seven-course "Les Heritages" menu goes all out with signature L'Envol creations like grilled red prawns with caviar and roasted Ibérico pork pluma.

Highlights include nage of langoustine with oyster cream and caviar, bouillabaisse with red mullet, prawn and mussels, and a dessert of Valrhona chocolate coulant with chamomile ice cream; as an extra treat, parties of four can enjoy a complimentary bottle of Donovan's private-label champagne.

Loaded with collagen, this buffet runs from May 2 to June 30 and features up to five fish maw-infused dishes, including a nostalgic braised fish maw with imitation shark's fin soup and an individual claypot of steamed fish maw and crab meat with wolfberry on Egg White. Coinciding with French GourMay, the Mother's Day menu at Ami is chock-full of French flavour. Focused on the region of Occitanie in the south of France, the menu by executive chef Nicolas Boutin entails creations such as a delectable ballotine comprised of duck foie gras wrapped with scallop and complemented by seaweed and luscious beurre blanc. Clocking in at HK$1,188 for six courses or HK$1,588 for eight courses, every table dining on May 12 will be treated to a baked Alaska.

Tuck into comforting Cantonese classics at Hotel Icon's flagship restaurant, which is offering an eight-course set dinner from May 10 to 12. For the occasion, executive chef Wong Chi-ki has designed a menu of double-boiled fish maw soup with bamboo pith and red mushroom, braised South African abalone with Japanese mushroom in superior oyster sauce, steamed giant grouper fillet with hot chilli sauce, baby pigeon with soy sauce and more—all priced at the lucky HK$888 per person for a minimum of two persons.

8. Zuma

Priced at HK$1,088 per person, the May 14 menu features an array of restaurant’s signature mains such as beef tataki with truffle ponzu, seared salmon with lemon, shiso and soy, shrimps and vegetables tempura, takoyaki with katsuobushi and yuzu mayo, grilled chicken wings with sea salt and lime, and pork gyoza with coriander and spicy wafu sauce. Just for this occasion, the dessert course has been upgraded to a New York cheesecake with fresh strawberry coulis decorated with edible roses.
