Mid-Autumn Festival 2026: the best mooncakes for gifting and sharing this season

Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur marks the season with a collection by Chef Loong of Yun House, combining classic baked mooncakes with inventive snowskin creations. 

Presented in a jewellery-inspired red gift box, the mooncakes are available individually or in sets, with discounts offered for orders placed before August 20, 2026 and for purchases of 20 or more boxes.

EQ’s Celestial Treasures 2026 collection revives its signature Miniature Collection of bite-sized mooncakes, while larger gifting options range from the maroon velvet Autumn Jade Collection to premium sets paired with Champagne or cognac.

Sunway Resort Hotel’s The Garden of Moonlight collection takes inspiration from the traditional lantern, with four handcrafted mooncakes presented in a jade-toned keepsake box that can be reused as a decorative light or wine holder.

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s 2026 mooncake collection is presented in keepsake boxes inspired by blooming peonies and ancient Chinese coin motifs. The line-up includes nine baked mooncakes and four snowskin varieties.

Shangri-La hosted an exclusive showcase in collaboration with Malaysian designer Rizman Ruzaini to celebrate the launch of their mooncake collection. The collection is available until September 25, 2026.

Putrajaya Marriott Hotel’s 2026 collection is handcrafted by the culinary team at Summer Palace, combining classic flavours with contemporary fillings. Each keepsake box includes White Lotus with Single Yolk and Mixed Nut mooncakes, alongside a choice of two additional flavours.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur’s Mid-Autumn offering spans three distinct ranges: Timeless Tradition, Snow Skin and Artisanal Chocolate. This year’s highlight is the new Hazelnut-Fig Chocolate mooncake, inspired by the hornbill and its fruit-based diet.

Each range features four flavours and is available in four- or eight-piece boxes, presented in celadon green packaging that draws on ancient ceramic artistry and incorporates motifs of Malaysia’s tropical rainforest and national bird.

Lachér Patisserie’s Mid-Autumn offering spans both baked and snowskin mooncakes, with eight flavours in each selection. The blue-grey keepsake packaging takes inspiration from the verse “Though miles apart, we share the same moon,” celebrating connection and shared memories beneath the Mid-Autumn moon. 

Orders can be placed through their website, with pickup and deliveries available to KL and Selangor.

Ralph’s Coffee celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with a limited-edition mooncake set housed in a vintage-inspired camper van, finished in the brand’s signature green and white. Illuminated from within, the collectible box contains six mini mooncakes in two flavours: Salted Butterscotch Brownie and Coffee Custard Yolk in Chocolate Skin.

Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur marks its first Mid-Autumn Festival with Celestial Duality 星月之境, a design-led mooncake set inspired by the contrast between the moon’s cratered surface and the softness of moonlight.
