If you are thinking of dining in this Lunar New Year without cooking up a storm, Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant at Sheraton Towers Singapore has some auspicious takeaway options. The Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is a large soup tureen filled with premium ingredients top grade shark's fin, whole abalones, dried scallops and Chinese mushrooms in a tasty soup brewed with ginseng and wolfberries that is good to the last drop. Also on the takeaway menu are the pan-fried nian-gao and water chestnut cake, two alternatives for dessert to please varying tastes. The pan-fried nian-gao has a chewy texture that goes easy on the palate with a nice sweetness while the water chestnut cake refreshes tastebuds with bits of crunchy water chestnut encased in a cool jelly-like cake.

Those preferring to dine at the restaurant should start off the Lunar New Year meal with the lobster and pan-fried scallops yu sheng loh hei. The lobster slices are succulent in contrast to the crispness from the veggies and crunchiness from the nuts, making for a good auspicious entrée. Executive Chinese Chef Chung Yiu Ming also offers diners some light bites in the form of steamed mixed vegetable dumplings with mushrooms a trio of vegetable dumplings, each wrapped with different ingredients to impart variety in flavour.
