Here’s your handy guide to the full lineup of events

A celebration of Southeast Asian gastronomy, Kita Food Festival is back for the third year in a row. The lineup of events is more exciting than ever, showcasing award-winning local and international chefs, leading winemakers, and pioneers in the food and beverage industry.

From four and six-hand dinners to barbecues and TED-style talks, the festival offers something for all diners and food lovers. We’ve broken down the events by location, showcasing what you can expect over the next two months:

Kuching

On September 24, Roots Bistronomy will host Anthony Yeoh of Singapore’s Summer Hill, working with the Malaysian restaurant’s head chef John Lim.

Penang

Four events in Penang will be held from October 13-15 at Restaurant au Jardin, Gen 根, Communal Table by Gen 根, and Chinahouse. Visiting chefs include Hans Christian from Jakarta’s August and Malcolm Lee from Singapore’s Candlenut. The Penang lineup will conclude with The Great Mezze, a celebration of food and drinks featuring four Penang and four Singaporean chefs.

  • October 13: Collaboration between Su Kim Hock and Vaughan Mabee at Restaurant au Jardin
  • October 13 and 14: Collaboration between Johnson Wong and Hans Christian at Gen
  • October 14: Kitchen takeover by Malcolm Lee at Communal Table by Gen
  • October 15: The Great Mezze at China House

Kuala Lumpur

From October 26 to 29, five Kuala Lumpur-based restaurants will host international chefs before a Big Sunday Barbecue at Tiffin at the Yard. The following day will see Kita Conversations, a series of TED-style talks featuring industry leaders. Visiting chefs include Julien Mercier from Singapore’s Claudine and René Stein from Germany’s Tisane.

  • October 26: Collaboration between Julien Mercier and Masashi Horiuchi at Entier
  • October 27: Collaboration between Chele Gonzalez and Sergio Meza at Mano
  • October 27 and 28: Collaboration between René Stein and Darren Teoh at Dewakan
  • October 27 and 28: Collaboration between Shaun Ng and Takeshi Fukuyama at Hide
  • October 28: Collaboration between Keiko Kuwakino and Lroy Lim at Ignis
  • October 29: Big Sunday Barbecue at Tiffin at the Yard
  • October 30: Kita Conversations

Singapore

Similarly, five Singapore-based restaurants will host international chefs from October 19-22, commencing with a Big Sunday Barbecue featuring eight celebrated talents. Kita Conversations will also take place the next day. Visiting chefs include Prateek Sadhu from India’s Masque and Ross Magnaye from Australia’s Serai.

  • October 20: Collaboration between Mirko Febbrile and Anissa Helou at Fico Masseria
  • October 20 and 21: Collaboration between Matt Stone and Pete Smith at Underdog Inn
  • October 20 and 21: Collaboration between Ivan Brehm, Deepanker Khosla, and Hafizzul Hashim at Fiz
  • October 21: Collaboration between Ross Magnaye, John Kevin Navoa, and Kurt Sombero at Kubo
  • October 22: Big Sunday Barbecue
  • October 23: Kita Conversations
