Following the resounding success of Gordon Ramsay’s Bar & Grill in Newport World Resorts, two of his new restaurants hit the shores of Cebu

Foodies, rejoice—Gordon Ramsay’s highly anticipated Fish & Chips and Street Burger have opened their doors at The Mactan Newtown Cebu. These two new restaurants will join the township’s colourful culinary scene, blending local ingredients with international flair. Your favourite comfort food, from burgers, fries, milkshakes and fried seafood, has all been given the celebrated British chef’s stamp of approval, and it’s well worth the trip.

“It’s a combination of believing in the Philippines’ incredible food culture and building on the fantastic foundation we’ve already created in Manila,” Gordon Ramsay Restaurants International executive chef, Ronald Kimbugwe explains. He alludes to the earlier opening of Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill in Newport World Resorts.

“Bringing Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips and Street Burger to Cebu reflects our commitment to bringing globally loved brands to key growth destinations across the country,” says Alliance Global Group CEO Kevin Tan.

Sporting the Union Jack, Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips serves the British classic in a casual setting. The snazzy booths, counter seating and nautical accents all evoke the imagery of a local shop you might find in some coastal town. The words ‘get hooked’ are prominently displayed, and for good reason.

The menu consists of combo meals: your choice of fish, shrimp, chicken, slipper lobster or some combination of the two or more, paired with Koffmann’s fries and two of their bold sauces. You can also choose to have it on a bun, if it suits your preference. Lapu-lapu is also on the menu, providing another avenue to enjoy this local fish.

“Big love for lapu-lapu,” Kimbugwe enthuses. “It’s a fantastic product. It’s really important to respect the heritage of where we are, and that’s why we’ve also included it in our fish and chips. The slipper lobster, as well as the lapu-lapu, are coming from the water just 300 metres away, which is amazing for us to do.”

True to its name, Street Burger by Gordon Ramsay is filled with art pieces, pop culture icons and murals reminiscent of the Big Apple. Right next door to Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips, it is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. This playful American diner invites you to sit back, relax and enjoy the soulful food it has to offer.

Enjoy classics like the fiery Hell’s Kitchen Burger, Gordon’s Fried Chicken (GFC) Burger and the classic O.G.R. burger. Of these, Kimbugwe recommends the GFC burger. “It’s pretty amazing. It’s a quarter chicken, and it’s got this hint of spice, sweet tangy sriracha mayo, but it’s also got the freshness of the salad inside it as well.” Other items on the menu include the aptly-named Hotter Than Hell Dirty Fries, fresh salads, spicy wings alongside vibrant dips and a wide selection of desserts.

Among these international favourites is a proud, sinful serving of our own: the Lechon Burger. Layers of charcoal, spit-roasted pork with crispy skin are combined with a smashed beef patty, fresh lettuce, house pickles and jalapeño slices. “I just had lechon for lunch,” Kimbugwe laughs. “It was bangin’, man. Absolutely bangin’.”

The two restaurants were designed to be more casual, relaxed environments. “We’re not trying to make it so you only come here on a special occasion,” Kimbugwe explains. “It’s something cool and different, to be able to offer at [this] price point that’s fair for all.” As they settle into their new spots along The Mactan Newtown in Cebu, these dining establishments are sure to grow into beloved favourites.
