Elsewhere, momentum is underscored by lifestyle trends, as restaurants shift towards dog-friendly dining and beverage brands launch accessories and bottles that mean something beyond decoration. Summer evenings are meant for champagne, and Veuve Clicquot has launched a vibrant collection that captures the spirit of the season. Created in collaboration with British-Nigerian designer Yinka Ilori, the Chasing the Sun collection features a series of holders and accessories designed to complement the champagne house’s Yellow Label and Rosé cuvées.

Each item features bright, joyful patterns in dynamic shapes, adding a touch of whimsy to every pour. The Sun Holder is a calabash-shaped champagne bucket crafted from upcycled materials, in which Ilori’s Hands Embracing the Sun pattern wraps around the shape. The Sun Totem is a portable drinking vessel that is gourd-shaped and built for the Brut Yellow Label, keeping bottles fresh for up to 90 minutes. Meanwhile, the Arrow Rose Sun gift box is designed for Brut Rosé in the shape of the brand’s road sign-like Clicquot Arrow, showcasing Ilori’s sun motifs in yellow hues and pink accents.

Above Savour a mahjong-inspired cocktail collection at Hutong

Mahjong is the trendiest tabletop game right now, and Hutong has introduced a way to discover this traditional pastime with minimal strategising. The Northern Chinese restaurant will serve a mahjong-inspired cocktail menu with four distinct chapters of play: Qi, shuffling the tiles; Cheng, drawing a tile; Zhuan, forming the hand; and He, winning the hand. Even the presentation nods to mahjong rituals, where cocktails are served with guests drawing a bespoke tile that corresponds to their drink.

Qi features 0 ABV pours led with tea infusions and fruit-forward profiles, followed by the Cheng, a chapter of reimagined recipes that includes the Moonlight, a milk punch infused with goji berries, coconut and hibiscus, finished with an almond-flavoured lollipop. Next, Zhuan delivers stronger blends such as the Dual Bloom, a salted plum gin-based cocktail with umeshu, apricot liqueur and hawthorn bitters, while bold and vibrant flavours lead the He chapter with blends such as the White Dragon, a tangerine peel-mezcal and tequila cocktail with apricot liqueur and chilli-pineapple syrup.

The Tale of Mahjong menu is available from August 24.
