Cover From Damansara to France, Croisserie bakes its way to global recognition by placing 4th internationally

Malaysia’s beloved bakery Croisserie marks its remarkable achievement at the Mondial du Pain awards in France by placing 4th globally, while ranking 2nd in Asia and 1st in the ASEAN region

With queues forming from even outside their cafe, Croisserie, a well-known bakery for those living within Bukit Damansara (and worth a trip for those who don’t), carries an aroma of fresh, buttery goodness with its array of delectable pastries and desserts that many would find hard to resist.

And now, Croisserie has done us proud once more by securing fourth place at the recent Mondial Du Pain awards in what is Malaysia’s first appearance in this prestigious artisan bread competition.

Founder and Chef Ken Jay Lim and Chef Jia Ling Ho, alongside their coach Chef Den Omura, astounded judges and won the hearts of many in Nantes, France, with their handcrafted artistic bread showpiece entitled ‘20 Years of Les Ambassadeurs du Pain’.

Translated as the “World of Bread”, the Mondial du Pain awards are held every two years and have been said to be the Olympics of the baking world.

The prestigious event gathers the crème de la crème of international bakers to compete across various categories, including Standard Bread (Pain Courant), Organic Bread using the Respectus Panis method (Pain Respectus Panis Bio), Health and Nutrition Bread (Pain Nutrition Santé), Artistic Bread Showpiece, and more.

A huge milestone for Malaysia’s pastry scene, Croisserie has found their win to be a humbling yet inspiring feat, sharing, “We are grateful for the experience and proud to have shared Malaysia’s craft, heart and flavour with the global artisan baking community.”
