Here are the best places to get your waffle fix on March 25 (or any day you want, really)

International Waffle Day falls on March 25, and with Singapore’s plethora of cafés offering classic, artisan, and even vegan waffles—you’ll have no problem treating yourself to these decadent delights.

For a Chinese spin on a classic waffle, head down to the newly-opened Ri Ri Cha in Chinatown, or go for the ondeh waffle at Three’s a Crowd for a local touch. If you’re looking for something with more variety, Revelry Café offers a selection of sweet and savoury waffles, making it possible to have waffles for both lunch and dessert. Apiary never disappoints either with its homemade ice cream atop its classic waffles. End the day with Hvala, where you can appreciate their dairy-free waffles with a Japanese twist.

Fans of The Better Scoop at Serangoon will rejoice at its newest outing at Ri Ri Cha. Located on Sago Street in Chinatown, you’ll find the signature nian gao waffle which is deliciously chewy and decadent, alongside tea-infused ice cream and favourites like black sesame ice cream.

Wash it down with a special Pi Pa Gao latte with peach gum, which elevates the traditional medicinal syrup with a cool and innovative slant.

Apiary

Small batch creamery Apiary has made a name for itself at its outlet on Neil Road for its ice cream churned in-house. A visit wouldn’t be complete without getting its brown butter waffles, which are freshly made and decadently drizzled with homemade chocolate sauce and maple syrup.

For a premium experience, make sure at least one ice cream flavour on your waffle is the Sicilian pistachio, which transports you to the birthplace of gelato and the distinct flavours of Sicily.

Hvala

If you’re vegan, Hvala’s dairy-free waffles will scratch your itch for a Japanese-inspired waffle. Here, the waffles are drizzled with a saccharine golden syrup as well as genmai, a fragrant toasted rice that adds a touch of nuttiness to an otherwise sweet treat.

Enjoy it with a scoop of matcha gelato while sipping ceremonial-grade matcha, bringing a slice of Japan to you.

Three’s a Crowd

At Three’s a Crowd, you’ll find three signature waffles to accompany freshly-churned ice cream. For a simpler offering, go for the maple waffle, or take a detour to Spain with the churros waffle, indulgently coated in cinnamon sugar and dark cocoa sprinkle, drizzled with chocolate sauce and accompanied by a toasted marshmallow.

Best of all is its ondeh waffle, which is made with pandan and delightfully drizzled with gula melaka-infused coconut shreds and gula melaka (palm sugar) sauce. The coconut shreds provide a nutty, subtle crunch, and the gula melaka sauce is deliciously complex.

Sunday Folks

Sunday Folks is dedicated to the art of handcrafted desserts, and you won't be disappointed with their offerings. Here, the waffles are freshly baked upon order and made with locally-sourced eggs and 100% pure butter. The freshly-churned ice cream flavours here are indulgent, with a rich dark chocolate Ferrero, earl grey lavender, and even 'Little Rabbit', a childhood favourite sweet.

Customise your waffle by adding toppings like toasted granola, butter rice pops, and the homemade milk mochi for an extra special treat.

Creamier

Nestled within one of Singapore's oldest heartland neighbourhoods, Creamier serves up small-batch handmade ice cream at its base in Toa Payoh. Enjoy decadent favourites like the Thai milk tea and the butterscotch almond atop a classic waffle, drizzled with maple or chocolate syrup.

Even better, from March 25 to 31, Creamier is running a one-for-one waffle promotion for International Waffle Day. All you have to do is show the staff that you follow Creamier's TikTok or Instagram accounts. Run, don't walk, to Creamier for your waffle fix!

Creamier, Block 131 Toa Payoh Lorong 1, 01-02, S( 310131), +65 8882 5106

Oblong

If you love coconut, you'll love Oblong's 'Nuts About Coconut' menu. Here, you'll be able to choose the Coconut Combo, which packs a sweet, nutty punch with its coconut ice cream sitting atop a coconut waffle, accompanied by a pineapple coconut French soda.

Other premium ice cream flavours are available too, like tiramisu or s'mores, with the opportunity to have them with Oblong's classic red velvet waffle, or the more unusual plain charcoal waffle.

Fluff Stack

If you're looking for a twist on a waffle, look no further than Fluff Stack, which offers a 'croffle'—the lovechild of a croissant and a waffle.

Here, you'll be treated to delights like 'Remembering Elvis', a croffle sandwich paying homage to Elvis' love of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, elevated with banana brûlée, marshmallows and maple syrup. For a more classic offering, opt for the '1838', croffles with organic brown sugar glaze, butterscotch, Echire salted butter & scoop of ice cream.

Fluff Stack (multiple outlets), 3 Temasek Boulevard, B1-K4 West Atrium, Suntec City Mall, S(038983), +65 8764 3166

Revelry Café

You’re in for a treat at Revelry Café. Here, you’ll not only find typical sweet waffles, but also their signature ‘burffles’, a mix between a burger and a waffle. The Revelry Signature Burffle, for instance, is a classic cheeseburger replacing buns in favour of Belgian waffles, which is sure to satisfy the cravings of any beef-lover.

For dessert, try out the cotton candy waffle named On Cloud Nine. Its colourful cotton candy sitting atop a waffle with ice cream, toasted marshmallows and a surprising ingredient, popping candy, will make sure that your experience at Revelry Café is an exciting one.
