Here’s our guide to Singapore’s hottest cafés that will satisfy your palate and your Instagram feed
There’s always something exciting in Singapore’s café scene with a slew of cafés opening around the island. We’ve got the lowdown on these spots that have recently opened, in case you’re looking for a quiet place to study or a convivial gossip session.
Wash down striploin steaks with free-flow bubble tea at Wong Fu Fu, savour delicate French pastries and cakes at Arc-en-Ciel Pâtisserie, or chill in a spacious furniture showroom while eating gelato at Café Limonci. For a tried-and-true offering, visit Micro Bakery’s newest addition to the brand, Micro Bakery Kitchen at Tiong Bahru, for the signature sourdough loaves and brunch menus. End the week at Beastly Girls Sandwich Bar with filling, meaty sandwiches and equally saccharine desserts that will leave you aching for more. We promise you there won’t be a dull beat in your café-hopping schedule.

1. Café Limonci
Looking for a chill place to relax and unwind? Look no further than Café Limonci, located on the second floor of the Oxley Bizhub industrial complex. On first look, you might mistake it for a minimalist furniture showroom decked out with indoor plants and wall-to-ceiling windows.
Here, you’ll be able to sip on coffees brewed from single-origin beans sourced from Rwanda, as well as the popular matcha latte. Don’t forget the selection of gelato (with the option to add a waffle!), with exotic flavours like lemon curd thyme and Tahitian vanilla bean that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth.
Café Limonci, 61 Ubi Road 1, 01-17 Oxley Bizhub, S(408727), +65 9677 2188
2. Arc-en-ciel Pâtisserie
This new pâtisserie takes you on a trip to France without leaving these shores. Arc-en-ciel Pâtisserie (French for ‘rainbow’) offers a glittering array of colourful, polished pastries harkens back to the precision of French pastry-making. The Elijah, for instance, is a petite white chocolate lime mousse cake with yuzu and almond that looks too pretty to eat.
For a fuller experience, get the tea pairings along with the desserts; options include the poire mangue tea and strawberry champagne.

3. Wong Fu Fu
Taiwanese joint Wong Fu Fu is sure to be popular in bubble tea-crazed Singapore. Here, you’ll be treated to a mini buffet bar with an option to customise a hot plate dish. So, order that Taiwan fried chicken and striploin steak with your choice of carbs (which includes spaghetti) and egg fried rice.
Even better, bubble tea is free-flow here and is customisable with your choice of toppings at the DIY bubble tea station.

4. Beastly Girls Sandwich Bar
Tucked away in a corner of Odeon Katong lies Beastly Girls Sandwich Bar, and its offerings live up to its ravenous name. Expect hearty and filling dishes that include the Breakfast Beast, juicy pork sausages, scrambled eggs, melted cheddar and ketchup nestled within a nicely toasted Cubano bun. For a more unexpected offering, go for the Beastly Girl, a lunch item consisting of flame-torched beef tongue, a fried egg, melted emmental, mayo and Dijon mustard over a slice of sourdough.
Don’t miss out on desserts to complete a satisfying meal. A must-try is the affogato, which comes with two strong espresso shots, Madagascan vanilla bean gelato, and two KitKat sticks.
Beastly Girls Sandwich Bar, 11 East Coast Road, Odeon Katong 01-18, S(428722)
5. Micro Bakery Kitchen
Micro Bakery’s newest outlet at Tiong Bahru, Micro Bakery Kitchen, is a must-try for brunch lovers. All its sourdough loaves are handmade and baked fresh daily. Have it with the tomato gazpacho, prepared with ricotta, cherry tomatoes, and the more unusual Thai basil, or the duck ragout that’s sure to bring out the tender smokiness of the duck.
If you’re vegetarian, don’t worry, they’ve got you covered with a vegetarian-friendly menu—creations such as portobello mushroom over gruyere topped with cured egg yolk over a ciabatta roll will keep you more than satisfied.
Micro Bakery Kitchen, 78 Yong Siak Street, 01-12, S(163078)
