With both classic stalls and hidden gems, you’re sure to have a blast at this year’s annual Ramadan bazaar in Kampong Gelam
It wouldn’t be Ramadan without the quintessential Ramadan bazaars in Singapore. The Kampong Gelam Ramadan bazaar is back from March 15 to April 16, and it is bigger and better than ever this year with a whopping 86 food and drink stalls, complete with brilliant light displays and captivating live performances.
Head down to Kampong Gelam and feast on bazaar staples like the Ramly burger, deeply savoury kebabs at Mr Doner Kebab, as well as spiced teas at Habibtea. With so many stalls to choose from, here are our top picks to try at Kampong Gelam.

1. Meatmymeat

You don’t need to travel to Philadelphia to try a cheesesteak, because Meatmymeat has brought it to the Ramadan bazaar. The pulled beef is intensely flavourful and tender, accentuated by a sprinkling of chilli powder. All cheesesteaks come with a side of fries, which are freshly made and perfectly crispy.
For a true cheesy delight, opt for a mozza Philly cheesesteak that’s blowtorched to melty perfection.
2. Mr Doner Kebab
At Mr Doner Kebab, you’ll be greeted by the sight of slow-roasting chicken and beef on a shawarma spit. This results in an intricately seasoned and flavourful kebab enhanced by chilli sauce and the tangy kick of garlic mayo, and matched by the key textural contrast of the iceberg lettuce.

Here, you’ll find Ramadan classics like nasi empit, rice cakes wrapped in pandan leaves, or ayam percik, chicken seasoned with a bevy of spices and grilled to perfection. For the most bang out of your buck, get the lemang set, where these rice cakes cooked in bamboo are the base for pairing with the bolder rendang, serunding (spiced grated coconut), and sambal goreng.

The Coney dogs at Kream were made for your Instagram feed. Hop on the mentaiko craze with the Mentaiko Dog, or tuck into the spicy, umami punch that is the signature Flaming Cheese Rendang Dog, which brings the best of Malay and American diner classics together.

5. House of Mandi

At House of Mandi, you will be treated to impossibly tender lamb or chicken mandis, served with rice that is spiced so intensely you’ll ravish your meal with gusto. Also on offer is the baklava, which is sweet, soft, and flaky that you’ll want seconds.
6. Habibtea
Habibtea puts a delightful Arab spin on bubble tea. Its signature Habibtea spiced with cinnamon, cardamom and star anise adds a comforting complexity to the classic bubble tea, and the Bhaiyatea made with Kenyan assam tea leaves has a depth that is unparalleled.
Don’t miss out on their halal mojitos either in flavours like green apple and lemon-lime, complete with sparkling water and popping boba to quench your thirst as you wander through the bazaar.

There’s no Ramadan bazaar without the Ramly burger. Sink your teeth into the sloppy, tender chicken, beef or fish patties cooked hot and fresh right in front of your eyes, topped with a fried egg and sandwiched in-between pillow-soft burger buns. It doesn’t get any better than this classic.
8. Bogeh
Bogeh’s selection of nibbles is the perfect treat to round off a walk through the bazaar. The star of the show is undoubtedly the durian goreng, comprising a batter that’s been fried to perfection and an impossibly creamy durian filling.
Other treats such as pisang goreng are classics that don’t disappoint. If you’re after more savoury offerings, opt for their lekor—its umami fish flavour is complemented by their freshly made chilli sauce.
9. The Original Vadai
Few things are better than a hot, crispy vadai with a crunchy whole prawn on top of it. That’s why you’ll always find long queues in front of the Original Vadai stall at the Ramadan bazaar.
The prawn vadai is a classic, but if you’re looking for an alternative, the onion vadai offers a strong allium bite that won’t disappoint. If you’re feeling more adventurous, go for the chicken liver or the giant squid, which is deep fried for the ideal crunch.
10. Mamak's Corner
Mamak’s Corner is where you go when you’re looking for a good, hearty briyani. There are only two types of briyani—mutton or chicken—ensuring that all its effort goes into crafting the best plate of briyani. Wash it down with freshly-squeezed pomegranate juice that cuts the dish’s full-bodied, savoury taste.
11. EVB Bistro
EVB Bistro’s seafood bakes are perfect for sharing while you soak in the bazaar’s lively atmosphere. Go for the EVB bake, which is brimming with unagi, prawn and octopus. Even better, it’s drizzled with unagi sauce, sprinkled with furikake and accompanied by seaweed sheets. The sliders at Lè Paquè have been selling out in record time, so make sure you head down to get a taste of the succulent seafood or meat sliders before they run out. The lamb slider stands out for its refreshing mint sauce that matches the dominant flavour of the lamb. The beef slider is just as delicious, with the garlic mayo and charred onions adding an extra depth with every bite.
14. Noodz
Get your noodle fix at Noodz by Helwa’s Gourmet. You’ll get the option to customise your noodles with a salty or sweet sauce and a choice of protein like karaage chicken or sautéed garlic prawns, thus creating a filling bowl that will keep you satisfied for hours. To finish off your meal, get the bingsu, which comes in bright flavours like Blue Temptation and Sexy Purple.
15. Cake Love
in an impressive array of flavours. You can’t go wrong with the traditional pancakes, which are served with salted butter and maple syrup. But for more indulgent offerings, go for the Chicago cheesecake, which sees cream cheese, biscuit crumbs and caramel sauce over your pancakes. If not, go for the Milo dinosaur, Dutch baby pancakes drizzled with a Milo and condensed milk sauce in a local twist.
