There are 21 casks in total, each containing the most exquisite aged Scotch whiskies in the distillery’s reserves

It’s easy to understand the allure of cask whisky investment: it gives connoisseurs and imbibers the chance to own an expression that is truly unique and no one else in the world has. The latest whisky brand to give whisky lovers the chance to own precious casks is Royal Salute, which has unveiled its Cask Programme in Singapore this week via a private, by-invitation-only event graced by Royal Salute global brand ambassador and the 13th Duke of Argyll, Torquhil Ian Campbell.

He shared with Tatler Dining that the Cask Programme wasn’t about following trends in the market. Rather, the timing was right as master blender Sandy Hyslop had a selection of 21 special casks—each containing meticulously blended whiskies matured for at least 21 years—that he was happy to put his stamp on and share with whisky lovers. “They’re all very different, they’re all individual,” added the Duke, and buyers have the opportunity to sample these cask-strength whiskies before they choose their desired cask.

Eight of the newly launched casks are available in Singapore, and the rest are distributed in select markets around the world.

Why 21 casks only? The Duke replied that the number alludes to their blended whiskies, which are aged for a minimum of 21 years. And as brand ambassador Anna Mitchell mentioned at the launch event: “Royal Salute starts where others end.”

For the recently launched Cask Programme, Royal Salute plans to release new casks annually. Each one is unique, so pricing and number of bottles per cask vary.
