Pushing aside the notion that whisky gatherings are purely a gentleman's game, the night proved to be enjoyable for all the ladies as they turned up at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill in Sunway Resort Hotel where the dinner was held.

Welcome drinks were promptly served, from glasses of Johnnie Walker Blue Label neat to delectable cocktails like Manhattan with a Twist (Johnnie Walker Blue Label with wild cherry-infused sweet vermouth, D.O.M Benedictine and chocolate bitters) and Blue Label Sour made with Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Lapsang Souchoung syrup, fresh lemons, egg white, and Angostura bitters.

Before dinner was served, guests were treated, five at a time, to a whisky-tasting session hosted by Johnnie Walker Blue Label expert Chong Wai Keng. He explained the tasting notes and distinct flavours of Johnnie Walker Blue Label as well as the limited edition Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost & Rare and the King George V.

The first of four courses prepared by the culinary team at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill was then served as guests enjoyed live performances by renowned Australian violinist and composer Josh Kua and Malaysian songbird Elvira Arul.

Pairing wonderfully with the smooth and rich taste of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, mouthwatering mains like the classic beef wellington or the snow cod with Romanesco broccoli and caviar were a hit. The meal rounded off with dessert, a decadent Manjari chocolate tart with honeycomb and yoghurt sorbet.
