Tatler speaks to founder Suen Lee about how she empowers women, in line with Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s ethos
Over her years leading the team at Suen Jewellers, Suen Lee has always had a clear vision for the company’s image. “Suen Jewellers is a brand that is empowering, synonymous with quality and style, and a name that customers are proud to wear. We aim to exude strength for women of strength,” she enthuses.
Lee came from a legal background before wholesaling diamonds and retailing jewellery. “I believe that the experiences from each phase of my work life equipped me to make efficient decisions and focus on attention to detail,” she muses.

However, her success did not come without difficulty. “It was tough to balance caring for my young children and a new business immediately after my divorce,” she admits. However, she garnered support from those around her, from friends to auditors and bankers, who were always willing to share advice and knowledge.

With her jewellery brand, Lee wants to give women confidence. “Suen Jewellers speaks to many women—the designs are simple and classy, without overpowering anyone’s personality, rather complementing it.” In line with Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s ethos, integrity is also a key value within the brand. “Our focus is always on the materials we use, from gold quality and gems to craftsmanship. We never compromise.”
Furthermore, the brand takes pride in an integrity-pricing policy, resulting in a loyal customer base. Lee proudly admits: “we have customers who have stayed with us through the many phases of their life, from career highs and other milestones to motherhood.”

From the sales to the marketing team, Suen Jewellers is a women-led company. “As a company, we know how important it is to provide a support system to our team of employees as we understand what it means to be a woman—a mother, a caregiver, a provider and so much more.”

To Lee, having depth of character means being thankful, having humility, and living sincerely, which are traits she admires and appreciates. “Depth of character is developed over time as one goes through difficult times, causing one to pause and reflect. To me, it is a sense of confidence and contentment in oneself," she muses.
