Hennessy partnership with designer Shuting Qiu, an artist from Shanghai, draws on her cultural heritage. Inspired by Chinese New Year and the Year of the Snake, the Hennessy Cognac carafes are adorned with traditional textiles, floral patterns, plus the movements and scales of a serpent. Bold shades of red serve as the foundation of the three bottles in the collection, with each one—V.S.O.P, X.O, and Paradis—telling a different story.

The V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale) was created in 1817 by Hennessy 1st generation Master Blender Jean Fillioux for King George IV of England. This limited edition bottle comes with the slithering silhouette of a snake against the backdrop of a Hawaiian-inspired floral assemblage. The box is also embossed and given texture with the same techniques that Shuting Qiu uses in her fabric designs. Enjoy its smooth, charming, and delicate notes that is truly fit for a king.

A unique blend that is emblematic of the Hennessy name, the X.O (Extra Old) is a bold, multifaceted blend. Its limited edition bottle comes in a nuanced mix of rich shades of red and blue with prominent gold accents and a cork, a subtle nod to the shifting nature of the year. The snake imagery returns as it encircles and highlights the maison’s name.

The Paradis was created by Maurice Fillioux in 1979 as a tribute to his love of music, and it is meant to be a drink that deeply connects to one's emotions. This limited edition bottle embraces the vibrant red to its fullest. Here, the motif takes on a more abstract form. The raised, soft-to-the-touch scales make up the graceful body, expertly weaving together depth and patterns to create a symbol worthy of the coming Year of the Snake. This timeless elegance is what Hennessy is known for.

The Paradis will not be sold at the pop-up.

“Hennessy has given me an opportunity to share my ideas and vision with the world, which is an incredible platform for me, as a young Chinese designer,” Shuting Qiu shares. “The Hennessy carafes are classics, and this is similar to fashion in that every brand has its classic silhouettes, unique designs, and colours.”

“My family and I often drink Hennessy during Chinese New Year, and my friends drink it when we hang out—it’s a great versatile drink, but my favourite way to drink it is simply over ice.”
