1. Ember Modern Bistro

Asian influences abound at Ember, a tiny progressive eatery with Japanese-inspired austere elegance and modest prices. It currently serves a six-course menu with such in-betweeners as beef tartare & watercress, and squid & variations of onions—think caramelised onion puree, onion broth, fried shallots, spring onion oil, lightly braised onions.

Note that it only seats 12 pax per night.

2. Little Bourke

As its moniker suggests, the cafe’s presence presumably references the Melbourne street with a menu that spans signature dishes from the Land Down Under. Its brunch and lunch menus offer standard cafe fares (think smashed avocado tartine, pancakes & berries, and breakfast platter with an onsen egg), bolstered with stodgier specialties of pan-seared duck breast, chicken liver pate, and even a 200g steak.

Plant-forward options include poached funnel with spinach, eggplant lasagna, and mushroom risotto with truffle paste . Don’t miss out on their fresh selection of pastries and cakes, as well as Perth-sourced coffee.

3. Peko Peko

If you’re all about poke bowls, sashimi, and sushi, Peko Peko is the place to be. They pair well with sake, and it so happens that this joint boasts one of the largest sake selections in Malaysia. Its sake of the month is Takijiman Junmai Daiginjo which tempts with its sharp and delicate aroma of Japanese pear.

4. Topshelf

Tucked away in a quieter part of TTDI, this modern bistro serves up a contemporary take on classic French fare in a casual dining setting. Highlights include Dry-Aged Duck Breast with truffled potato, spinach & jus, and Beef Bourguignon, a traditional French stew. Fresh oysters are air-flown weekly from Ireland.

5. Vin’s Restaurant

Vin’s prides in using fresh quality ingredients and making everything from scratch, from the sauces and stocks to the pastas. There are eight specialty pasta dishes including Marlborough Mussel & Tawan Prawn and Duck bacon Garlic Pecorino with Pumpkin Puree.

7. Foo Foo Fine Desserts
