1. Ghost Sugar Cookies

Elevate your favourite sugar cookies with some ghoulish white royal icing. Mackinzie’s Spooky Ghost Cookies on Delish are to die for; they look nearly too perfect to eat. She recommends piping the royal icing around the edges of the cookie first, then filling in the centre afterwards.

If you’re a fan of chocolate, this other recipe for ghost cookies on Food Network uses chocolate chips for each ghoul's eyes and teaches you to make royal icing from scratch. Don’t fret if you can’t find a ghost-shaped cookie cutter (not exactly your typical pantry staple), as you can use cardboard to cut out the silhouette and trace around it onto your dough with a sharp knife.

2. Autumnal Pumpkin Pie

This gorgeous pumpkin pie isn’t the spookiest, but what it lacks in fright-factor it makes up for in taste. Garnished with sugared cranberries and pie-crust-pastry leaves, this showstopper is filled with a creamy pumpkin filling spiced with nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Find the recipe on Sally’s Baking Addiction.
