These fresh eateries are dishing out tantalising creations
Although the first half of the year has come and gone, one thing that’s staying is Singapore’s vibrant dining scene. Get excited as this month, we see a plethora of new eateries opening up across the island. From French bakeries to Japanese cafes, there is always something new to try—here are some to get you started.

1. Boyutei

Boyutei is the latest brainchild of one-Michelin-starred restaurant Whitegrass and master tea artisans Hvala. The quaint café in Ann Siang Hill offers Japanese-inspired bites by Whitegrass’ head chef, Takuya Yamashita. Try the ebi katsu sando, an open-faced sandwich that puts the spotlight on juicy ebi deep fried till golden brown. The dish is finished with tartare sauce and a fiery homemade chilli sauce. Save room for desserts and sink your teeth into the matcha goma garden, a sweet treat comprising goma chocolate cookie, freshly churned homemade matcha ice cream and soft matcha warabi mochi.

2. La Petite Boulangerie

Homegrown furniture brand, My Selection, has opened a new bakery, La Petite Boulangerie. Pastry chef Celeste Teh helms the kitchen, whipping up classic French pastries with a Singaporean twist. Look out for its signature merveilleux, a traditional French and Belgian dessert of fluffed whipped cream sandwiched between light meringue. The creation is available in classic and innovative flavours such as chocolate, kaya, passion fruit and cheesecake.

3. The Hainan Story Chapter Two

The Hainan Story has opened its third outlet at Jewel Changi Airport. Here, the menu boasts new and classic dishes that highlight comforting Singaporean and Hainanese fare. Keep your eyes out for the Chapter 2 1980’s Hainanese chicken cutlet coat with potato chips crumbs. Exclusively available to this outlet, the dish sees Hainanese-style deep fried pork cutlet accompanied with garlic toast, baked beans and Hainanese barbecue sauce. On top of savouries, look forward to new sweet creations like the pandan coconut cream horn, a buttery puff pastry generously stuffed with a creamy pandan coconut filling.

4. The Ice Cream Bar

Can't decide if you want ice cream or booze after a night out? Why not have both at The Ice Cream Bar’s latest outlet at 313Somerset. Get to indulge in alcohol-infused ice cream flavours such as the Guinness pistachio and Baileys brownies. The former is a scoop comprising Guinness Foreign Extra stout churned into velvety ice cream. It’s finished with a generous layer of homemade pistachio sauce and pistachio biscuit. The latter is perfect for chocolate lovers, made with Baileys Original Irish Cream and decadent chocolate brownie chunks.

5. Paris Baguette

This French-inspired bakery has opened its latest café-retail concept in Raffles City. Head down and delight in a new all-day brunch menu that puts the spotlight on heaty brunch fare such as croque madame sandwich. A classic French dish, the sandwich sees fluffy bread topped with dried salted beef ham, melted cheese, and a perfectly cooked sunny side up egg. The dish is accompanied with baked tomato, baked potato and a creamy bechamel sauce. Those with a sweet tooth will not want to miss out on its new dessert creations, like the decadent chocolate cake, infused with aromatic earl grey tea.
