As they do ever year, chefs around the island have come up with unique and innovative mooncake flavours that satisfy our stomachs. Whether you are one for classic flavours or contemporary ones, here are some of the best traditional mooncakes to look out for in preparation for Mid-Autumn come September 10.

1. The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore

This hotel is honouring its rich heritage with classic mooncake flavours. Among its traditional selection, standouts include the classic mini baked white lotus paste with egg yolk; and mini baked pineapple paste. Filled with tropical flavours, the latter is a bite sized treat packed with sweet lotus paste and balanced with tangy pineapple chunks. The treat pays homage to Singapore in the 1850s—the time of the Balestiers and the increasing pineapple plantation population.

2. Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant

The culinary team at Li Bai has introduced a new mooncake flavour this Mid-Autumn Festival. Its newly launched oats and dried fruits mooncake is filled with wholesome ingredients, including oats, raisins, apricots, prunes and dried figs. It’s then wrapped in a buttery pastry and baked until beautifully golden brown. The decadent treat offers a myriad of texture, from crunchy fig seeds to chewy apricots.

The Clan Hotel’s latest mooncake gift set makes for a present for loved ones this season. Each set comes with four traditionally baked mooncakes, and two of these take inspiration from the hotel’s signature brews: the Nanyang Ritual and The Ritual. The former sees the treat infused with aromatic oolong tea and boasting notes of raisins and musk. The latter is imbued with bright golden osmanthus, and each bite is filled with floral and fruity flavours.
