Each week at Tatler Asia’s The Suite Spot, we showcase the world’s most over-the-top and extravagant hotel suites. This week, we look at a charming private villa in Bangkok designed by star architect, Bill Bensley

Pool Villa Riverview at The Siam Hotel

Suite Size: 1,400 square feet

Suite Specs: Leafy greenery, soaring entryways and a hacienda-style courtyard, It's the kind of private villa one might expect to see in Tulum or Bali, or perhaps even a Riad in Morocco—but alas, there it is sitting pretty and peacefully in the heart of Bangkok.

The Siam Hotel itself is like no other in the Thai capital, and its Pool Villa Riverview drives that point home. Situated in a townhouse-style heritage building, the one-bedroom villa is anchored by a charming courtyard complete with a private pool. There's also a separate sheltered terrace overlooking The Siam Hotel’s infinity pool and the Chao Phraya River.

Suite Design: The Siam Hotel was conceived by creative director and Thai pop star Krissada Sukosol Clapp, together with world-renowned architect and interior designer, Bill Bensley, who applied his signature style to the Bangkok property.

A monochrome canvas of black and white sets the tone for curated artworks, bold colour pops and antiques that transport guests to Bangkok's most decadent period—that of Rama V.

In the courtyard, dark rattan strikes an elegant contrast against white walls, softened by a styled scattering of potted plants. Indoors, there's a king bed sitting proudly on a raised platform overlooking a sitting area, and a dramatic marble ensuite reminiscent of ancient Roman baths.

Of The Siam, Bensley says: “My studio team has designed some 150 plus hotels and resorts worldwide and we have received many accolades. But I am most excited about The Siam, as I know it is going to turn heads on the competitive hospitality market of tomorrow.”
