The Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) for Penang, Bali, Greece and Vietnam will launch on March 16 while the India VTL will likely begin on March 15

Travellers who are vaccinated will now be able to enter Singapore from more countries after the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced that they had added new countries to the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) on March 4.

These new countries are Bali, Penang, Vietnam, Greece and all cities in India.

Travel history requirements will be eased as well for travellers who are entering Singapore from Europe under the VTL. This means travellers with recent travel history to the European Economic Area (EEA) will be allowed to enter Singapore.

The European Economic Area allows free movement of people among its countries which essentially means that travellers can enjoy quarantine-free travel around the 30 states in the area.

The move is part of Singapore’s plans to safely reopen its borders and reclaim its position as a global business and aviation hub, according to Transport Minister S. Iswaran.

Under the VTL scheme, travellers who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 can enter Singapore without having to serve a quarantine. They only need to test negative in a Covid-19 test before their departure for Singapore and take another test within 24 hours of their arrival.

Considering that Malaysia, Indonesia and India are key markets, these VTLs are crucial and will help Singapore’s air hub connectivity, according to CAAS.

The new VTLs will launch on March 16 with four daily flights each way between Singapore and Penang and with two daily flights from Denpasar to Singapore.

The VTL for India on the other hand will extend to Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai and will likely begin from March 15.

Vaccinated travellers from Greece and Vietnam will be able to enter Singapore using the VTL from March 16.

As of now, Greece is already open to vaccinated travellers from Singapore while Vietnam plans to reopen its borders to international tourists from March 15.

With the launch of the VTL with Greece, Singapore has now established two-way quarantine-free travel with all countries in Europe that have direct flights to Singapore.

Short-term visitors and work permit holders eligible to travel on the new VTLs can apply for a vaccinated travel pass from March 13 at 10 am.

Fully vaccinated Singaporeans, permanent residents, children aged 12 and below, and all other long-term pass holders however do not need to apply for the pass.

CAAS added that it will continue to monitor the public health situation and adjust border measures when needed.
