Cover Hong Kong movie Limbo bagged two awards at the Asian Film Awards 2021

Limbo received the Best Original Music and Best Production Design awards from the Lee Chang-dong-led jury

The Hong Kong movie, Limbo was awarded two prizes by the Lee Chang-dong-led jury at the Asian Film Awards—one of the most prestigious film awards given in Asia to Asian movies.

Thai sound designer, Nopawat Likitwong took home the Best Sound for the film while art director and production designer Kenneth Mak received the Best Production Design award.

Limbo is an action thriller film based on the novel, Wisdom Tooth. It’s directed by Cheang Pou-soi and stars Gordon Lam, Mason Lee, Cya Liu and Hiroyuki Ikeuchi. The story follows rookie policeman, Will Ren (Mason Lee) and his partner, veteran cop Cham Lau (Gordon Lam) who are pursuing an obsessive and brutal murder of women.

Mak wasn’t able to attend the awards show in person or virtually. Producer Paco Wong accepted the award on his behalf.

“I would like to express my gratitude for the jury members of the Asian Film Awards as well as the other producers of the film,” said Wong.

Before its win at the Asian Film Awards, Limbo premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and at the Far East Film Festival where it won the Purple Mulberry Award. It will next be seen at the Tokyo International Film Festival from October 30 to November 8.
