Thai sound designer Nopawat Likitwong for Limbo and Day Tai for The Way We Keep Dancing took home the awards

This year’s Asian Film Awards took place in Busan, coinciding with the Busan International Film Festival, moving away from its usual Hong Kong venue.

In the Best Sound and Best Original Music categories, two Hong Kong films took home the awards. Thai sound designer, Nopawat Likitwong who worked on Limbo won the Best Sound award while Day Tai received the Best Original Music award for The Way We Keep Dancing.

The two couldn’t attend the awards ceremony in person due to the pandemic but were virtually present to accept the awards.

Day Tai who worked on the music for The Way We Keep Dancing clinched the Best Original Music award. The film score composer has previously worked on the prequel film, The Way We Dance in 2013.

Since the film is about street dance and young Hong Kong people who pursue their dreams, Day Tai composed the music with reference to the limited space constraints in the city which is also reflected in his music.

In his speech, he said, “Thank you so much to Asian Film Awards Academy. Thank you, God, my wife and my family. Thank you to all the musicians and the sound engineer who worked on this project. Thank you to director Adam Wong, who is also my very good friend. We all devoted our hard work to this movie because we wanted to show our love to Hong Kong.”
