Get ready for a slew of brand new Disney+ content this September 8 as we celebrate our love for the House of the Mouse

Every year, Disney celebrates its fans with Disney+ Day, a day dedicated to the release of a plethora of content from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and more.

This year, we celebrate Disney+ day on September 8 and fans are in for a treat with new exclusive Disney+ content and releases for subscribers.

From the streaming premieres of the highly anticipated Marvel epic, Thor: Love and Thunder and the live-action edition of Pinocchio to new originals such as Cars on the Road and Tierra Incógnita, there is so much to get hyped about.

Below, we highlight the shows that you absolutely have to keep on your radar.

1. Thor: Love and Thunder

One of the most talked about films this year has been Thor: Love and Thunder, the latest in the lineup of Thor movies by Marvel Studios and it is finally going to be available to stream.

As the sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, Love and Thunder follows Thor as he recruits Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster to stop the terrifying Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods.

The film’s release on Disney+ will also be accompanied by a documentary special on the film entitled Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder. This will also be released on Disney+ on September 8.

2. Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return

Obi-Wan Kenobi is arguably one of the most popular limited series that Lucasfilm has produced for Disney+ and now, we get to go behind the scenes to see the making of it. 

In this documentary, Deborah Chow, the director, as well as the cast and crew reflect on their journey towards telling this new story with iconic Star Wars characters.

With never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage, colourful personal stories and meaningful moments, this is one you cannot miss. 

3. Pinocchio

In this live-action retelling of the classic tale, Robert Zemeckis transforms the tale of Pinocchio, who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. 

In this rendition of the film, Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio as his own son. Viewers will also be treated to Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio’s guide and Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy.

4. Tierra Incognita

We all love a good mystery and in Tierra Incognita, we get just that. Viewers follow Eric, a teenager who discovers a terrifying world while searching for the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of his parents eight years before. 

When he runs away to go to his childhood home for answers, Eric finds himself faced with a horror theme park that presents a multitude of mysteries. 

5. Cars on the Road

Our favourite animated cars are back on the road in a new series that follows Lightning Mcqueen and Mater as they head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister.

Viewers follow along as they meet new characters along the way, enjoy crazy roadside attractions and have the best adventure together.

6. Growing Up

In this innovative hybrid docu-series, creators Brie Larson and production company Culture House explore the challenges, triumphs, and complexities of adolescence through ten compelling coming-of-age stories.

Representing a wide range of lived experiences, Growing Up promises to be emotionally powerful and raw as we watch these young adults navigate diverse social, familial, and internal challenges.
