On December 20, the city’s brightest stars will attend the 2021 Tatler Ball at the newly opened M+ museum

Since 1995, the Tatler Ball has been Hong Kong’s most exclusive black-tie soirée, kicking off gala season and bringing together the city’s most notable figures. Challenging circumstances prevented the previous two iterations from going ahead, but this month, the Tatler Ball is back stronger and more impressive than ever.

This year, with a refined guest list due to social distancing regulations, 240 prominent Hongkongers––many of whom who were recently honoured on the inaugural Tatler Asia's Most Influential list––will walk the red carpet to celebrate the return of the event.

On December 20, for the first time ever, the Tatler Ball will take place outside a traditional ballroom space, at the city’s newest landmark, the M+ museum. After opening last month, the Herzog & de Meuron-designed building has taken centre stage at the West Kowloon Cultural District.

For the past 26 years, Tatler Asia has striven to make this event more than just a party: it’s about cultivating the very best of power, influence and style, and this year more than ever, it’s a celebration of spirit, community, and Hong Kong’s unwavering resilience in the face of challenges.

In support of the performing arts, one of the industries most affected by the pandemic, the ball will unite 11 arts groups in an inspiring performance named 24hr Triptych comprising three films directed by cinematographer Leung Ming-kai, shot at Shaw Studios in Tseung Kwan O. Participants include the Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong
Philharmonic, BPM Dance Productions, Chung Ying Theatre, City Contemporary Dance Company, Creative Production Group, Haw Par Music Foundation, The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong, Toolbox Percussion, Blood Wine or Honey, and Vox Vanguard, as well as a host of independent music producers and artists.

Sponsored by Chopard, HSBC Global Private Banking and Hennessy and set within this elegant and high-profile new venue, the Tatler Ball will bring businesses and powerful individuals together to champion Hong Kong’s can-do spirit and culture of ingenuity, shine a light on its creative community, and bring 2021 to an extravagant close, setting the stage for a new year filled with hope.
