A new study has shown that the Philippines ranks 5th as having the most number of beauty pageant winners around the world

Where are the most beautiful people in the world born? Does birthplace play a role in your likelihood of winning a beauty contest? These were the questions that researchers at money.co.uk sought to answer when they began their investigation on "the most beautiful countries in the world".

Of course, it's true what they say: beauty is in the eye of the beholder and subjectivity lends itself as a hurdle in studies such as these. This is why investigators banked on data of over 500 beauty pageant winners including those who have triumphed at Miss World, Miss Universe, Mr Gay World, and more.

What they found was that the United States produced the most number of beauty pageant winners among all other countries. With over 60 winners, the US can proudly lay claim to the number one spot. This is followed by Venezuela with 35 winners, Brazil with 26, the United Kingdom with 25, and the Philippines with 23.

Overall, the country ranks fifth as the "most beautiful country" in the world. With prominent queens that include Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, the Philippines has been known to host a pool of avid pageantry fans that find themselves incredibly devoted to supporting our candidates.

Interestingly, the study also looked at the cities which have produced the most number of beauty pageant winners. Caracas in Venezuela holds the top spot after having raised ten beauty pageant winners. This is followed by Bangkok, the birthplace of seven winners. Third place is tied with Sydney and Turku in Finland, both having been recognised as the home city of six pageant winners. In fifth place comes Manila, Maracaibo (Venezuela), and San Juan in Puerto Rico.

After Priyanka Chopra, Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray are considered the most popular beauty pageant winners on Instagram with 12.7 and 12.4 respectively.
