The intimate event at RuMa Hotel & Residences put the spotlight on a collection of watches that pays a fitting tribute to the exciting world of aviation

In November 2021, Breitling treated select customers in Kuala Lumpur to the first viewing of its highly anticipated Super AVI watch collection. Breitling conducted a series of private dinners for guests to peruse these watches in an intimate setting by the pool at The RuMa Hotel & Residences. One of the nights was co-hosted with Tatler Malaysia.

The Super AVI is a new watch series that celebrates a classic pilot's watch from the 1950s, the Ref. 765 AVI, also known as "Co-Pilot", an apt name considering its crucial role in assisting pilots during a flight.

The collection is further divided into individual pieces inspired by four legendary fighter jets namely the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Vought F4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and the de Havilland Mosquito. If you're a fan of pilot's watches, these timepieces, with their large Arabic numerals, oversized crown, and knurled bezel, evoke the exhilarating world of aviation quite fabulously.

During dinner, the Swiss manufacture conveyed its watchmaking caliber via two video showcases, including one on the Spotlight Squad featuring Oscar winner Charlize Theron, Misty Copeland and Yao Chen. After a welcome speech by Alvin Soon, president of Breitling Asia, our guests inspected the Super AVI watches up close and personal, and were suitably impressed by their ruggedness matched with a modern appeal, including a COSC-certified movement and water resistance up to 100m.
