Blending modern solar technology with a bold architectural design, Tissot’s PRC 100 Solar reinvents an early digital age favourite, offering a stylish and sustainable alternative to the retro PRX

With its 1970s-inspired lines, integrated bracelet, and accessible pricing, it’s no wonder the Tissot PRX has become a big hit. But just as the PRX captured the current zeitgeist of retro refinement, Tissot’s new PRC 100 Solar presents a thoroughly modern proposition.

Tissot updates the mid-2000s classic with the cutting-edge Lightmaster Solar Quartz movement. Beneath its crisp silhouette, the PRC 100 Solar converts natural and artificial light that passes through discreet solar panels into energy, resulting in a reliable timepiece designed for ease in daily life. Excess energy is stored in a rechargeable accumulator.

The solar-powered movement is a technological leap that separates the PRC 100 from the PRX. While the latter offers either quartz or Powermatic 80 automatic movements, the PRC 100 Solar delivers incredible reliability without sacrificing precision—a clear win for those who value both sustainability and practicality.

While the PRX leans into retro-cool minimalism, the PRC 100 Solar offers a more architectural aesthetic—classic round case meets dodecagonal bezel, complete with a sunray dial to give the watch a strong wrist profile. Water-resistant up to 100m, it is available in five distinct styles in 39mm, spanning silver and deep blue dials on steel bracelets to leather strap editions in brown or full black.

Later this year, Tissot will expand the line with a 34mm version to include a two-tone PVD rose gold and a full PVD yellow gold variation. Those seeking the same Swiss quality and value that made the PRX a household name, the PRC 100 Solar offers a compelling alternative.
