The construction magnate and philanthropist reveals a glimpse into her bustling routine, as well as the mechanical marvel she’s often sporting on her wrist
Regarded as the “Woman of Steel” by many, Alice Eduardo holds a prominent place among the country’s most esteemed businesswomen. She is the inspiring and immovable force at the helm of the Sta Elena Construction and Development Corporation, propelling the construction and engineering company to become a major player in a predominantly male-led industry.
Always one to lead with grace and empathy, Eduardo is equally passionate about charity work. She dedicates a significant portion of her time and resources to philanthropic endeavours, supporting causes that resonate with her, from healthcare and education to environmental conservation.

It’s easy to see why her days are consistently busy, each one distinct from the last. What remains constant, perhaps, is the alluring companion gracing her wrist. Eduardo is an ardent enthusiast when it comes to collecting watches, deeming them essentials that accentuate every ensemble.
In between recent trips overseas, she generously spared some moments for Tatler GMT to recount the origins of her love of horology and her deep connection to a particular watchmaker.
Do you remember your first watch?
Yes. A Guy Laroche from my mum. I believe my interest in collecting stems from celebrating milestones in my life. It’s nice to reward yourself when something is achieved. I also buy based on what sings to my heart.
Would you say you are drawn more towards modern or vintage timepieces?
I would have to say modern watches since they are sturdy and can be worn daily. Also, they instantly change the look and set the tone of an outfit, whether worn with a cocktail dress or a formal gown, or with jeans on more casual days.

What’s the timepiece you are most often wearing these days?
I absolutely love Richard Mille. I have been buying them for years, starting when they were still under the radar. I love anything that is mechanical, and these watches are like engines on your wrist in addition to being stunning art pieces.
Can you share a memorable story about acquiring a watch in your collection?
It was in the late 2000s when I stumbled upon a then-little-known brand called Richard Mille. When I first saw one of their watches through a boutique window in Singapore, it was love at first sight. I entered the store to try on the RM-07, which I initially expected to be heavy. To my surprise, the watch was very light.
Not long after I visited that boutique in Singapore, I purchased my first Richard Mille, the RM-07, in the brand’s boutique in Beverly Hills. This RM-07 would soon be joined by several other Richard Mille models including the RM-037 and the RM-067.
My love for these watches led me to become friends with Mr Richard Mille himself and his family. In fact, during an event he hosted in Paris, he confided that the RM-023 was “so me”. I eventually purchased that very watch for my collection.
