Tatler Asia's Most Influential 2022 honouree, Alice Eduardo, speaks about making a big difference in a predominantly male-led industry

Alice Eduardo helms Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corporation, one of the country's leading companies in the infrastructural development and real estate sectors, as president and CEO. SECDC, which was founded in 1995, made its mark as one of the biggest firms in the Philippines' construction industry having been recognised for its many successful projects: the Bacnotan power plant in Batangas, followed by other major power plant construction, Entertainment City, the Total Petroleum Loading Jetty, and works related to the North Luzon Expressway project. Behind SECDC and its continuous glory in a field that is commonly dominated by men, Eduardo's expertise and dedication as a business acumen is an inspiration for many.

It's no wonder Eduardo was awarded as the MVP Bossing Award by the MVP Group in the same year, and the Most Charitable Force award at the Tatler Ball last 2019. Who do you look up to for guidance, inspiration or mentorship?

AE: As a young girl, I learned so much just by watching what my parents did at home and at work, in their businesses. All that just stayed with me and I go back to all those values when I need an anchor in the rush of life.

What can you say to those who’d like to follow in your footsteps?

AE: Surround yourself with the best hires and let them do their job. Be disciplined always.
