Meet Omega's iconic Speedmaster as interpreted by Swatch
The Omega Speedmaster has the distinction of being the first wristwatch to walk on the moon, earning it the nickname Moonwatch. Featuring a distinctive asymmetrical case and tachymeter scale, the Speedmaster is among the world's most coveted watches today.
Now Swatch has gone and tapped into this obsession by offering the most affordable Moonwatch yet—retailing at only RM1,065 in Malaysia and SGD372 in Singapore! An Omega Speedmaster usually goes for above RM20,000 at retail.

A few days ago, Swatch teased the new collection on social media with the words "It's time to change your Omega". It has since released to the media details of the 11 watches that will make up the Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection. The name derives from the bioceramic material used to craft the case, composed of two-third ceramic and one-third material derived from castor oil.

True to its trendy style, Swatch has chosen to adorn the MoonSwatch in vibrant, rarely seen colours (at least not on a Speedmaster) like pink, pale blue, sun-brushed gold and fiery red. Each watch is named after a planet in our solar system, complete with a rendering of the respective planet on the caseback. The Swatch, Omega and Speedmaster logos can be found on the dial. A velcro strap completes the look.
The Swatches are perfect for budding Moonwatch fans and I can’t think of a more appropriate icon for our shared project. We went to the moon, now we’re exploring the whole Milky Way. They’re great watches, in fantastic colours and they make me smile.
This unique partnership has already whipped up a frenzy for its release on March 26, 2022 from 10am onwards. In Malaysia, the collection will be available exclusively at Swatch Pavilion KL while in Singapore it will be available in Ion Orchard and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It's limited to two pieces of different colours per customer.
Will you be joining the queue? The collection will also be available online at a later date.
