The limited edition digital watch mixes retro with modern flair

If you're in the market for a luxury digital watch that isn’t named after a fruit, Girard-Perregaux Casquette is a good bet. First launched in 1976, it was a revolutionary move back then for a high-end Swiss manufacture, not just for the fact that it is equipped with a digital display and a quartz movement but also its boxy case design. Produced in a limited run of about 8,000 pieces from 1976-1978, it became a huge cult favourite.

The Casquette was revived recently—with the addition of “2.0” in its name—to ride on a resurgence of interest in everything retro.

Now, French fashion house Saint Laurent's Anthony Vaccarello has gone and reimagined the digital watch with a tubular LED display in black ceramic and black PVD-treated Grade 5 titanium, creating a super chic lightweight wrist accessory. The Casquette 2.0 Saint-Laurent is also a chronograph and displays a second time zone. Limited to 100 pieces is available exclusively in Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores in Paris and Los Angeles.
