Designed for those who see the world as one giant meeting room, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II, newly unveiled in two Oystersteel versions, is a symbol of a lifestyle that spreads across continents and cultures.

Whether it’s in the Philippines today or London the next, regardless if it’s for work or pleasure, this watch does more than tell time; it celebrates a mosaic of international experiences embodying what it means to be a well-travelled individual.

Reflecting on its rich heritage, the GMT-Master was initially designed in 1955 with intercontinental pilots in mind. Its long-standing association with international aviation has made it iconic in both horological and adventure-seeking communities. The GMT-Master series’ reliability soon made it a favourite among deep-sea adventurers, as well as astronauts of that time. Decades after, the watch continued to evolve into the GMT-Master II in 1982 with enhanced features such as an independent hour hand for easy adjustment across time zones.

This wristwatch’s 24-hour two-tone black and grey Cerachrom inlay ceramic bezel is a subtle nod to city life everywhere, with its moulded, recessed graduations and numerals coated with platinum via Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD). Rolex’s role in developing these special ceramics for monobloc bezels and inserts highlights their scratchproof nature; it makes them resistant to environmental effects. The dual colour scheme also enhances visibility as well as adds a touch of sophistication. It can be fitted with either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet which are equipped with the Rolex Easylink comfort extension link, allowing the wearer to adjust the length by approximately 5mm for optimal comfort. Both styles are perfectly suited whether out and about for brunch in Manhattan or an important business meeting in Hong Kong.

Inside the watch, its calibre 3285 movement keeps time with flawless precision because it is equipped with a 70-hour power reserve that caters to the dynamic lifestyle of its wearer. It displays the date plus the much needed additional time zone in a 24-hour format alongside the regular hours, minutes and seconds. The GMT-Master II also merges its elegance with practicality due to its waterproof Oyster case that ensures it can accompany anyone on an adventurous escapade without missing a beat. Crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel, the 40mm Oyster case guarantees the wearer waterproof reliability up to a depth of 100 metres. It also includes an integrated crown guard and a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which protects the dial while enhancing legibility underwater.

Beyond its technical capacity, the watch has more features to showcase such as the fact that every GMT-Master II has the Superlative Chronometer certification. This certification ensures that each watch’s precision rate is just a slim deviation of -2/+2 seconds per day, significantly exceeding the standards of the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) of no more than -4/+6 seconds per day. This also means that it meets the highest criteria possible for power reserve, shock resistance and resistance to magnetism. It is put through an extensive testing sequence under different settings over extended periods of time just to ensure it operates well–a reaffirmation of Rolex’s attention to detail in order to produce watches of the highest calibre.

With each tick, it enriches their experiences with unparalleled accuracy and style, yet they understand that what matters isn’t how much time they spend, but rather the experiences they have in whichever hemisphere of the world they might be in.
