At the Oscars 2026, the wrist knows no gender rules
All awards season, Heated Rivalry ’s Hudson Williams has been bending the gender rules—and looking incredibly dapper doing it—on the red carpet. At the Oscars 2026, the face of Balenciaga’s latest campaign arrived on the red carpet in an all-black ensemble, cutting through the sombreness with a Bvlgari Serpenti, a timepiece traditionally targeted at women.
Distinctive for its Tubogas strap that coils around the wrist like a snake, it might not have fitted well on Williams, but it still made a strong point that watches are shedding their gender. Earlier this year, Williams made the bold choice of wearing the Bvlgari Serpenti necklace at the Golden Globes.

Then there was Grammy-winning rapper Shaboozey, who rocked his stylish tuxedo with a delicate Chopard L'Heure du Diamant set with diamonds—a surprising but most certainly winning combination.

Pedro Pascal was in a full Chanel ensemble, right down to the timepiece—a chic Boy-Friend, a watch that interprets masculine watchmaking through the female lens. However, it appeared that Pascal had opted for a traditional leather strap instead of the model’s signature quilted strap.

Another rectangular watch was spotted on Michael B. Jordan, who celebrated his first Oscar win with a vintage Piaget on his wrist. The 9297 is sometimes referred to as the Piaget Tank.

For the most part, however, the men stuck to traditional masculine options, whether it was Leonardo DiCaprio with a Rolex Perpetual 1908 or Josh Groban with a Patek Philippe Nautilus Annual Calendar. Kieran Culkin went for the robust 42mm Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph in King Gold.

Alluding to Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movie, Robert Downey Jr. wore a green suit that matched his Blancpain Bathyscaphe timepiece featuring a similarly hued dial.
