Ejae’s red carpet moments from the VMAs to the Grammys showcase her evolving approach to contemporary fashion
Ejae’s ascent over the past year has been both industry-defining and highly visible. Long respected within K-pop as a songwriter and producer for acts including Red Velvet, Aespa, Le Sserafim and Twice, she stepped into a broader spotlight in 2025 through her work on Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters. As co-writer and performer on key soundtrack tracks and the singing voice of the film’s protagonist, Ejae moved from studio architect to on-screen cultural force. The song “Golden” became a global hit, reaching No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning major awards recognition, including Golden Globe and Grammy wins and an Oscar nomination.
That momentum carried directly onto the red carpet. From the MTV Video Music Awards and the Oscars circuit to the CFDA Fashion Awards, the Academy Museum Gala and the Grammy Awards, Ejae has approached each appearance with measured precision. Her fashion choices reflect a range of contemporary design languages, from experimental tailoring to sculptural evening wear, signalling an artist fully aware of the visual narrative that now accompanies her music career.

At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, Ejae arrived on the red carpet wearing a coordinated black ensemble that included an oversized blazer layered over a bandeau top and matching trousers. Rather than a classical gown moment, the outfit played with proportion and texture, pairing the extended cut of the blazer with a minimalist bandeau that revealed the midriff. Photographs from the event show the look alongside similarly dark, leather-inspired outfits worn by her KPop Demon Hunters co-stars Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami, situating her styling within a shared, thematic moment on the red carpet rather than a singular designer showcase.

At the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City, Ejae wore a custom gown by Zac Posen created through GapStudio, the elevated design arm of Gap Inc. The floor-length dress was crafted in a tonal blue built from a textured, deconstructed denim-inspired material rather than traditional satin or silk, giving the gown a surface richness rarely associated with classic formalwear. It featured a halter neckline that sat close to her shoulders and chest, flowing into a fitted bodice that expanded into ruffled tiers down the skirt and a sweeping train, creating movement as she walked.

Drawn from Amiri’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, the gown featured a figure‑hugging silhouette in metallic bronze crochet‑mesh fabric that reflected the spring collection’s emphasis on textured, slinky materials and artisanal surface work.

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, where Ejae was among the nominees for her work on the song “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters, she appeared in a custom gown by Dior’s creative director Jonathan Anderson in amethyst silk. It featured an asymmetrical one-shoulder design, a draped scarf-like element over the opposite shoulder and a gold circular brooch detail. From the waist, a structured hip flowed into a cascade of petals down one side. Jewellery included diamond-and-amethyst pieces that matched the tone of the gown. For the pre- and post-show, Ejae wore pieces from Leje, which was also worn by Blackpink’s Jennie in her “Seoul City” and “Zen” music videos.
