The Swiss luxury watchmaker has unveiled a new Limited Edition Seamaster for the American swimming legend

If blue is your favorite colour you are in luck as everything on this new OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean “Michael Phelps” is done to remind the wearer of water and swimming pools, even going so far as calling their colour scheme “pool-blue”.

This watch celebrates the man, the myth, the legend that is Michael Phelps, a friend of OMEGA since 2004 and also the most decorated athlete to ever compete in the Olympics, winning 28 Olympic Games medals—23 of them in gold—over the course of his career.

Based on the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph, this version features a 45.5mm steel case, a polished blue ceramic uni-directional rotating bezel with orange rubber to mark the first 15 minutes of dive time, and a polished white ceramic dial.

The minute scale on the dial as well as the diving scale on the bezel are filled with Super-Luminova which will glow in darker environment such as deep waters, but the diving scale will emit a green glow while the minute scale will emit a blue one, thus avoiding confusion when reading the dial.

Much like its counterpart, the “Michael Phelps” Limited Edition is powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900 which you can look at through the sapphire crystal caseback stamped with a large logo representing the athlete.

Since the watch is a celebration of Michael Phelps’ achievements, it will be a limited edition of 280 pieces symbolising his 28 Olympic medals.
