Birthed in the same town as A. Lange & Söhne, Nomos Glashütte has been showered with accolades—at last count, over 150 awards including Red Dot Design Awards—for its timeless yet modern designs and ability to showcase German watchmaking without the eye-watering price tag. While it has been creating a buzz around the world since it was founded in 1990, it wasn't until March this year that the young German brand found a physical home in Malaysia, specifically at Watches of Switzerland by The Hour Glass in The Gardens Mall.
It boasts 13 models including the flagship Tangente and the sporty Autobahn, all of them noted for their minimalist design approach drawn from Bauhaus principles. They are also powered by mechanical movements developed in-house; most notably, Nomos Glashütte can boast to have its own patented swing system escapement.

A recent visit to Watches of Switzerland revealed that the collaborative collection that it did with The Hour Glass in 2019 to celebrate the luxury watch retailer's 40th anniversary is among the watches on display. A reinterpretation of the Tangente neomatik 39, the hour markers appear in the form of ancient scripts.
The salmon and silver dial showcase Chinese oracle bone script, the earliest form of Chinese writing. The ruthenium and midnight blue dials feature Hindu-Arabic numerals that originated in the 6th or 7th century. These stainless steel pieces are powered by ultra-thin DUW 3001 calibre with automatic winding.
