Cover Carties Santos-Dumont

With Hublot debuting a new collection of square watches this year, here are two other new pieces in this underrated classic shape that deserve our love and attention

1. Hublot Square Bang Unico

The Square Bang is a new collection that also introduces a new shape to the Hublot family. Its debut at Watches & Wonders 2022 comprises five versions: titanium, King Gold, titanium ceramic, King Gold ceramic and black ceramic. The All-Black Ceramic is the only limited edition (250 pieces) in the collection.

The automatic chronograph borrows design cues from the Big Bang, from the six screws on the bezel and the "ear" on both sides of the dial to the hands. The column wheel is visible at '6' on the sandwiched dial.

2. Bell & Ross BR03-94 Multimeter

This chronograph levels up its sports functionality by not only measuring elapsed time but also tracks your pulse rate and respiration. For better legibility, each function is distinguished by a different colour: pulsometer in orange, asthmometer in bottle green, and three tachymeter scales for driving (white), cycling (pale green) and running (light grey). A small aperture at '1' displays the date.

3. Cartier Santos-Dumont

One of the earliest wristwatches designed for a pilot, the Santos-Dumont watch has been updated in three new colours: burgundy, gold and black. The burgundy version features a platinum case (limited to 150 pieces) with a crown set with ruby cabochon, while the black version is steel (non-limited) with a crown set with blue synthetic spinel cabochon. The gold version is rose gold case with a crown set with sapphire cabochon, and is limited to 250 pieces.
