These stellar new watches from Ming and MB&F show that serious watchmaking can also be fun
Ming is celebrating its eighth anniversary this year. This milestone is marked by the release Ming 57.04, the first watch to showcase its fifth-generation design language.
Defined by a modern take on Art Deco, the 57.04 features a 40mm stainless steel case and stepped lugs that evoke a nested effect, both polished and brushed for a distinctive appearance. The chronograph is powered by a custom Sellita movement that powers a 30-minute counter with a sandwich construction. A large monopusher crown is located on the left side of the watch.
The star element of the limited-to-100-piece, however, is the dial that shifts between turquoise, purple, and various shades of blue, depending on the viewing angle and light conditions. This is achieved via a multiphasic coating over a machined brass base.

For its latest M.A.D Editions, the more affordable cousin of MB&F, the Swiss watchmaker has collaborated with British Nigerian multidisciplinary artist and designer, Yinka Ilori, known for transforming spaces and objects into vivid expressions of joy. To spread this vibrant energy further afield, there is not one but three versions available, each limited to 400 pieces and distinguished by the colour of the rotor.
Indeed, MB&F has reimagined the dial-side rotor of the M.A.D. Editions × Yinka Ilori collaboration, now slimmer and more intricate without compromising its high-performance rotation. Each blade is milled with Ilori’s delicate tree motif, a symbol of hope and growth. Crafted from titanium and anodised to achieve vibrant yellow, green, and blue hues, the rotor also features Super-LumiNova that illuminates its contours.
The watch extends its bold design language to the bezel, where a precision-machined groove is filled with HyCeram, a heat-hardened liquid ceramic, finished by hand for a subtle pop of colour. The aluminium baseplate is stamped with textural waves that ripple beneath the movement for a striking 3D effect. Completing the rainbow of details are the mismatched rubber straps in yellow, green, purple, red, and blue.
