The butterfly has been Van Cleef & Arpels inspiration since its foundation, carrying with it the message of a benevolent nature from flower to flower. Whether figuratively or stylised, it has appeared in various forms throughout the years—in wood, lacquer, enamel, mother-of-pearl as well as precious and ornamental stones. It has even graced elaborate watch dials, lending the timepieces a touch of whimsy.
