Kindness, strength, discipline and freedom—this resilient mother-daughter duo share the valuable life lessons they've learnt from eachother, and how they're passing them onto the next generation

A little girl’s first role model, teacher and style icon is often her mother. From how she gets dressed for work, to her mannerisms at dinner, to the methods in which she nurtures and nourishes her family on the daily, there are a myriad of ways a mom teaches her children the ways of life, just by being her.

This rings especially true for mother-daughter duo, Christine Seah and Charmaine Seah-Ong—and it’s not just in the way they both wear a crisp white shirt and scintillating bijoux with enviably stylish insouciance…or make the bed in an equally crisp fashion the moment they get out of theirs in the morning. It’s also in the way they both are as parents, striking a unique balance between discipline and freedom, providing guidance and boundaries with lots of room for fun discovery.

“My mother is a perfectionist through and through, but she also encouraged us to get our hands dirty, and to play in the rain. Till this day, she’s a kid at heart, always playing pranks on us—her four kids—while still keeping us in check when we need it. And that’s the same way I’m raising my children,” says Charmaine, a mother of three.

“She’s repeating the same things that I used to repeat to her to her children now”, says Christine. “I see so much of myself in her, but I’ve also learned a lot from my children—like how to be more chill, and unwavering resilience in more ways than they’ll ever know”.

Unconditional, unwavering, and everlasting… nothing honestly comes close to a mother’s love—and a grandmother’s.
